Every day is a gift. Live it, breathe it, appreciate it. Most people keeps their heads wrapped up in the petty and nit picky parts of life, but in my eyes, it’s not about that. Take a deep breath and look around. There is beauty in everything. Listen to what the world has to offer because one cannot find it anywhere else.
Some might have to look a little harder than others sometimes, but it’s worth it. For me, when I find something beautiful, it leaves my heart glowing. It’s inexplainable to others that simply viewing or hearing something moves me to appreciate the beauty.
There are two types of beauty that always evoke these feelings inside me. The first one is clouds. Up at school, I walk everywhere because Flagstaff is small enough to where it’s not a struggle (although the altitude can kick booty after climbing up the third flight of stairs)! But when I take walks, my eyes are locked on the sky. Most of the time, Flagstaff has large and fluffy formations of cumulus, stratus, cirrus, cumulonimbus, or even the mixtures of those types of clouds. I’m sure the elevation helps to preserve such magnificent pieces. These clouds are incredibly beautiful, the way they are shaped, the color, how they can be set peaking out from behind the mountain of lush pine trees–everything about them is beautiful.
Taking a look at the second thing, it offers much more than the view clouds provide-the ocean. From my perspective, nothing in this world holds more value than the sea. Walking up, slipping off sandals and feeling the sand squish up in between toes. The view of people taking part in different activities like relaxing, reading, playing a sport, making a sandcastle, is simply remarkable. Walking further, eyes land on the water being pulled away from the shore but having no other choice but to roll back and crash down again. Standing ankle deep in the ocean and feeling the water splash lightly is another part I love to take in.
Even without the sight of the ocean, hearing the surroundings is enough. Close your eyes. Hearing the people playing games on the beach, talking, music, and the waves crashing onto the shore over and over again. I could sit there forever and listen to it. Feeling a warm breeze brush against my face only amplifies the glow that surrounds my heart.
From these two simple yet beautiful parts of life, I cannot help but think of how something so beautiful could be created. Now, I’m not too religious, but from all of the hidden treasures that life holds has me to believe in a higher power. There has to be a God that felt the same glow when creating these beautiful parts of Earth, and I thank Him for them every day.
